Rubber membrane is commonly used as a solution for roofing flat/low-pitch roofs, box gutters or decking, providing a watertight covering to protect the interior of your home.
Earlier roofing solutions like Butynol were prone to breaking down in the sun and leaking due to the many seams and joins.
As a certified applicator Quality Roofing uses ecoTUFF-TPO membrane which is a copolymer of polypropylene and ethylene propylene rubber that has been formed into a membrane sheet and reinforced with a heavy-duty polyester scrim. ecoTUFF-TPO offers outstanding resistance to weathering, temperature extremes and ultraviolet exposure all of which we experience here in the South Island climate. The ecoTUFF-TPO comes in very wide rolls meaning fewer seams and joins, all of which are heat welded (not flame seamed) making them as durable as the main body of the membrane.
Rubber Membrane roofing is often used in combination with more traditional materials like iron roofing i.e. main roof in iron with internal box gutters lined in rubber membrane.
